BJP set to return to power in 4 states including UP and Uttarkhand; AAP’s landslide victory in Punjab

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is all set to retain power in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The party is also emerging as the single largest party in Goa and Manipur. In Punjab, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is heading towards a landslide victory.

The reports of many Indian news media including`Times of India’ say that trends are available for 399 seats out of a total of 403 seats in Uttar Pradesh. The ruling party has taken lead in 245 seats while SP is leading at 116 seats, way behind the BJP. BJP’s ally Apna Dal (Soneylal) is leading in 11 seats, while RLD is leading in 11. BSP is leading at 3 seats while Congress at 2.

Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, has taken a comfortable lead in Gorakhpur Urban constituency. BJP Candidate  Sidharth Nath Singh is also leading in Allahabad West. Former Chief Minister and SP leader Akhilesh Yadav is leading in Karhal.

In Uttarakhand, trends are available for all 70 seats. BJP is leading in 41 seats, Congress in 26, BSP in 1, and Independents in 2 seats.

Former Chief Minister and Congress candidate Harish Rawat is trailing behind BJP candidate Doctor Mohan Singh Bisht in Lalkuwa constituency.

In Punjab, trends are available for all 117 Assembly seats. AAP has taken lead in 91 seats, while Congress is leading in 17, SAD  6, BJP in 2, and Independent 1.

Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and State Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu is trailing behind their Aam Aadmi Party rivals.

Channi is trailing behind in both the constituencies he contested. Punjab Aam Aadmi Party Chief CM candidate Bhagwant Singh Mann is leading from Dhuri constituency.

Former Chief Minister and Punjab Lok Congress Chief Captain Amarinder Singh is trailing behind AAP candidate Ajit Pal Singh Kohli in Patiala.

In Manipur, out of a total of 60 seat trends are available for 40 seats. The first result has gone in favour of  JDU.  Ruling BJP is leading in 21, Congress in 3, National People’s Party 6, NPF 6, JDU 1,  Kuki People’s Alliance 1, and Independents 2.

BJP leader and Chief Minister N Biren Singh is leading Heingang.

In Goa, first result has gone in favour of ruling BJP. BJP candidate Atanasio Monserrate has defeated former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s son and Independent candidate Utpal Parrikar is in  Panaji constituency. Trends are available for remaining  39 seats. BJP is leading in 18, Congress in 11, Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party 3, AAP 2, Goa Forward Party 1,  Revolutionary Goans Party 1, and Independents 3.

Chief Minister and BJP leader Pramod Sawant is leading from Sanquelim constituency by a narrow margin against the Congress candidate Dharmesh Saglani.

Former Chief Minister and BJP candidate Ravi Naik is trailing from Ponda constituency in a multi-cornered contest where Ketan Prabhu Bhatikar of MGP is leading.

Former Chief Minister Digambar Kamat of Congress is leading whereas Deputy Chief Minister Ajgaonkar Manohar of BJP is trailing from Margao seat.

In Majuli assembly byelection of Assam, Bhuban Gam of BJP is leading over Chittaranjan Basumatary of Assam Jatiya Parishad.
