Amid calls from different quarters for reopening schools, Education Minister Dipu Moni has said that the ongoing closure of educational institutes may continue for another week.
Several media reports confirmed the decision, quoting her as saying on Wednesday.
Talking to reporters, she said they were monitoring the pandemic situation in the country.
"The Natonal Advisory Committee on Covid-19 has recommended extending the closure. In such a situation, the closure can be extended by a week," she said.
The minister, however, added that a different decision may also come.
Previously, the government announced the closure of schools, colleges and equivalent educational institutions from January 21 to February 6 to help contain the spread of Covid-19 across the country.
