Bangladeshi Foreign Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud said that the relocation process of Bangladeshi diplomats from Rakhine state of Myanmar was underway.

They are currently in the Bangladesh consulate of Sitte, the capital of the Rakhine state.

The foreign minister said this at 1:30 pm on Monday in a view exchange programme with the reporters following his first bilateral visit to India being the minister.

He also said that Myanmar soldiers who have taken refuge in Bangladesh will be sent back very soon.

“But the date has not been decided yet”, he said.

Meanwhile, these troops will be sent to Myanmar by waterways, he added.

“As a result of Myanmar’s internal conflict, two people in Bangladesh were killed by a mortar shell fired from Myanmar at the Tumbru border of Naikhongchari in Bandarban, which is completely unacceptable,” said Foreign Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud.

“What is happening in Myanmar is an internal matter. Those guarding the border there is also an internal matter. We have expressed concern about this. We have even summoned the Myanmar ambassador. So we are doing our best,” the minister furthered.
