HC advises staying safe from e-commerce trickery

The high court has advised to launch awareness building campaign in a bid to save people from the e-commerce trickery.

A bench of justice M Enayetur Rahim and justice Mustafizur Rahman came up with the suggestion while conducting hearing on a writ petition filed over stemming wiretapping on Sunday (September 19).

Lawyer Shishir Monir took part in the hearing in favour of the writ while deputy attorney general Bipul Bagmar stood for the prosecution.

At one stage of the hearing, court asked Shishir Monir to explain e-commerce business.

“In our country, e-commerce platforms give various discount offers which Alibaba or Amazon do not have. This leads our clients being allured of profit and they face deception,” Shishir said in reply.

Meanwhile, the court fixed September 29 to conduct hearing over the writ petition.

Following the hearing Shishir Monir said, “The court on Suo Moto gave the orders during the hearing on a writ petition filed over wiretapping.”
