A father and daughter were crushed to death when a truck hit their rickshaw at Chashara in Narayanganj city.
Their bodies were recovered by the fire service and police and sent to the morgue of Narayanganj General Hospital for autopsy. Their relatives later identified the bodies.
The incident took place in front of the district council post bungalow on the Dhaka-Narayanganj old road around 1:30 pm on Friday (December 10).
The deceased were identified as Altaf Hossain (45), son of Anwar Hossain of Sambhupura area of Sonargaon upazila and his daughter Beli Akter (15).
The victims were headed towards Sonargoan from Chashara when the incident took place.
Fatullah Model Police Station Sub-inspector Zahangir Alam said the victims died on spot.
The locals detained the vehicle and the driver. The driver has been arrested and will be tried under legal measures.
