Sirajganj road accident kills 3, injures 10

At least three people have been killed and 10 others injured when a microbus crashed into the railing of a flyover after being hit by a speeding bus in Sirajganj.

 

The deceased are--Jahangir Alam Panna, 43, Rafiqul islam, 30 son of Abdul Alam Mridha, and microbus driver Selim, 35, son of Nur Islam.

All the victims hailed from Majhgram village of Natore's Baraigram upazila.

 

Mosaddek Hossain, officer-in-charge of Bangabandhu Bridge west police station, confirmed. 

 

The accident occurred around 10.30pm Monday on Jhawail flyover in the district's Kamarkhand upazila when the driver of the Dhaka-bound microbus lost control of the vehicle after being hit by a Tisa Paribahan bus from behind at high speed.

 

 

There were 13 people in that microbus, all hailing from Natore, the OC said.

 

The injured passengers are being treated at Sheikh Fazilatunnessa Mujib General Hospital in Sirajganj, the OC added.

 

The accident created long tailback of vehicles on both side of the highway. Vehicle movement on the road went back to normal after one and a half hour when police removed the microbus, said the OC.
