A pirate has been killed in a 'gunfight' with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Barguna. The incident took place on Thursday night (December 10) at Patharghata in Barguna on the banks of the river Bishkhali.
According to RAB sources, three to four more pirates escaped during that time. The identity of the deceased could not be immediately known.
On the basis of a tip-off, RAB took position on the bank of Bishkhali river in Sadar union of Patharghata upazila around 2:00 pm. After a while, the pirates fired at the RAB. At that time RAB fired back.
When the matter was reported to the Patharghata police, they rushed to the spot and rescued one person who was shot and took him to the Patharghata Upazila Health Complex.
Officer-in-charge of Patharghata Police Station Abul Bashar said, “One person was rescued after being shot and taken to Patharghata Health Complex,however he could not be identified.
