A local unit leader of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) in Narayanganj has died from injuries he suffered in an attack allegedly by Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL).
Md Amit Hasan aka Anim, 22, was attacked in front of a refuelling station at the port city’s Bhulta Gowsia area on Thursday evening, his party colleagues said.
After beating him up, the BCL men pushed him under a moving microbus, they added.
The local unit JCD brought out a vigil over the arrest warrants against a top BNP leader and his wife around 7:30pm.
At one stage, a group of BCL leaders and activists in motorbikes appeared at the scene and pounced on the JCD men.
Later on, some of the BCL men threw Anik under the vehicle, leaving him seriously injured.
He was first rushed to a local hospital before being heading for a second one in Dhaka.
Anik was finally referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries, police said.
