State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid has said that the state-run Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration and Production Company Limited (BAPEX) found gas at Tobgi-1 exploratory well in Bhola. From there, we’ll be able to produce at an average rate of 20 million cubic feet daily.

The minister on Thursday said this while addressing a press conference at his secretariat office in the capital.

He said, we will be able to get 20-million-cubic feet gas per day from there. At the customer level, the estimated value of the gas is about Tk8,000 crore.

"This is definitely good news amid the crisis created in the global market due to Ukraine- Russia war.", he added.

Stating that the government has been working to find sources of domestic energy, Nasrul Hamid also said, "Petrobangla has taken plans to drill a total of 46 exploration, development and work over wells during the 2022-2025 period."

He said completion of the well will be completed with the aim of making it fully functional and productive by November 7.
