Bangladesh to open first metro rail on Dec 28

Bangladesh will open its first-ever metro rail for the public on December 28. The country’s much-awaited metro rail will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The matter was confirmed by Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader in a meeting in Dhaka on Thursday.

Earlier on December 12, MAN Siddique, managing director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Ltd (DMTCL), said that the metro rail will be inaugurated at the end of December.

Initially, the section from Diabari in Uttara to Agargaon in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar via Mirpur will be open to the public.
