555 killed in road accidents across Bangladesh in February

In February, a total of 555 individuals lost their lives and 1031 faced injuries in 503 road accidents nationwide, as reported by the Bangladesh Passenger Welfare Association.

This information was disclosed in the monitoring report of the Accident Monitoring Cell of the Passenger Welfare Association on Wednesday (March 20).

According to the report, a total of 546 accidents occurred on roads, railways, and waterways throughout the country in February. Among these incidents, 599 fatalities and 1099 injuries were reported.

During the same period, railway accidents claimed the lives of 37 individuals and injured 64, with 38 accidents recorded. Additionally, seven people were killed, four injured, and one went missing in five waterway accidents, according to the Bangladesh Passenger Welfare Association‍‍`s report.

The report also highlighted that the highest number of road accidents occurred in Dhaka Division during February, resulting in 135 fatalities and 317 injuries across 115 accidents. Conversely, Sylhet Division witnessed the lowest number of road accidents, with 22 fatalities and 50 injuries reported in 21 accidents.
