Two people died in a head-on collision between a bus and a private car on the Dhaka-Rangpur highway in Gobindoganj, Gaibandha.
The incident took place in front of the BRAC office in Pantapara area of Gobindoganj around 7 am today.
The two deceased are the driver of the private car, Mizan Mia (35) and the passenger of the private car, Abul Bashar Mia (55).
Confirming the death of two people in the accident, Gobindoganj Fire Service and Civil Defense Station Officer Arif Anwar said that the local people have informed that the driver of the private car was going towards Rangpur with a passenger. When the car reached Pantapara area in the morning, it collided head-on with a passenger bus coming from the opposite direction.
Private car driver Mizan and passenger Bashar Mia died on the spot. However, no passenger of the bus was injured. Gobindganj fire service members recovered two bodies.
Gobindoganj Highway Police has impounded the bus. However, the bus driver and his assistant are absconding.
