HC instructs ACC to look into claims of corruption against BFF officials

Following FIFA‍‍`s imposition of a sanction last month, the High Court on Monday ordered the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to investigate the corruption allegation made against the relevant Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) officials and to deliver the investigation‍‍`s findings to the court within four months.

The court also issued a ruling seeking the respondents to defend their decision not to launch an investigation into these claims.

The order and rule were issued by the HC bench of Justices Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Khizir Hayat Lizu in response to a writ petition filed asking for the court‍‍`s direction to the ACC to investigate the corruption allegation brought against the relevant Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) officials after FIFA imposed a sanction last month.

The petition was submitted as a public interest litigation to the HC on Sunday by Syed Sayedul Haque Suman, a Supreme Court attorney and the founder of the "Barrister Suman Football Academy," asking the court to direct the ACC to look into claims that BFF officials, including its President Kazi Mohammad Salahuddin, Vice President and Finance Committee Chairman Abdus Salam Murshedy, and General Secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag, engaged in "corruption," "money laundering,"
