Brathwaite keeps Bangladesh at bay

West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite showed an unwavering resolve to help the side move into lead against Bangladesh on day two of the first cricket Test at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium at Antigua on Friday.

Brathwaite was batting on 75 after playing 239 balls as West Indies reached 159-3 at lunch. Jermaine Blackwood was on 9 with the captain as the home side extended the lead to 56 runs.

Bangladesh were shot out for 103 it its first innings with captain Shakib Al Hasan battling lonely to make 51.

Resuming the day on 95-2 and with just eight runs deficit, West Indies made a patient start as Brathwaite and another overnight batter Nkrumah Bonner remained watchful.

Bangladesh pacers Mustafizur Rahman, Ebadot Hossain and Khaled Ahmed though came up with disciplined bowling show, failed to distract them from their monk like concentration.

Skipper Shakib however took the all responsibility on his shoulder, bowling relentlessly and got the reward finally when his arm ball trick dislodged the stump of Bonner who was on 33.

But Brathwaite who was dropped on 0 earlier on day one patiently dealt the visiting bowlers to help the side see off the session without further trouble.
