Pori Moni breaks down at court, two more days under remand

During her remand hearing, popular film actor Pori Moni broke into tears in a Dhaka court on Tuesday (August 10).

At that time, a court employee went to take a picture and an argument occurred between the police, the lawyers and others present in the court. After a while, however, the situation quickly calmed down.

During the remand hearing, her lawyer Mojibur Rahman claimed that Pori was still wearing the same clothes she was wearing after her arrest. She did not even get a chance to meet or talk to his relatives. This is against the constitutional rights of a citizen.

Then the court granted police two more days to interrogate the popular Dhallywood actor and three others in the sensational drug case. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Debabrata Biswas passed the order after the remand hearing.

Later, after the remand hearing, Pori shouted at the journalists as she left the court. She kept saying, “I am innocent, I have been deliberately framed. I have been framed in a false case. What are you journalists doing?”

Before that, a huge crowd was seen at the capital’s CMM court area during her arrival. Her grandfather Shamsul Haque also came to the court for the hearing.

Police produced the actor, producer Nazrul Islam Raz and two others in court following the completion of a four-day remand in the case filed with Banani police station.

Investigators filed a petition for a five-day remand, Special Superintendent Azad Rahman of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) told the press.

Producer Raz and his manager Shobuj Ali have been remanded for four days in a case filed under the Pornography Act after the police sought 10 days to quiz them.

Pori Moni, her aide Ashraful Islam Dipu, film producer Raz and his manager Shobuj were brought to the court from the Malibagh CID offices around 11:45am, say media reports.

Model Mariam Akter Mou has also been brought to court after the end of a four-day remand to interrogate her in a separate narcotics case.

Police are also requesting an additional five days to question her, according to recent media reports quoting senior CID official Rahman.

Pori Moni and her aides were caught after a series of raids at Banani on August 4.
