Eight injured in Chattogram College BCL factional clash

At least eight leaders and activists of the Chattogram College unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) were injured in a factional clash over a trivial matter on the college campus on Tuesday noon.

However, none of them were seriously wounded. 

The injured -- all students of the college -- belonged to the two BCL groups, one of which is led by President Mahmudul Karim and the othjer by General Secretary Shuvas Mollick.

Students of different levels, they locked into the brawl clash over an altercation between seniors and juniors around noon. They also threw brickbats towards each other.

The clash and counter-clash led to several windows of the History department being vandalized.

Karim and Shuvas traded blame over the incident they said took place without any provocation.

Sources at Chattogram Medical College Hospital, where the injured were taken, said five of them left the hospital after receiving first aid.
