Pro-Awami League lawyers won the Supreme Court election

Awami League supporting lawyers panel (white panel) won the The Supreme Court Lawyers Association elections. All 14 positions, including chairman and secretary, were won by candidates of Bangabandhu Awami Lawyers Parishad. 

The results were announced on Thursday night (March 16). Momtaz Uddin Fakir and Md. Abdun Noor have been re-elected as chairman and secretary respectively. 

According to the declared results, the white panel candidate Momtaz Uddin Fakir was re-elected as the chairman by getting 3 thousand 725 votes. Blue Panel (BNP candidate) Mahbub Uddin Khokon got only 293 votes.

The candidate of the white panel for the post of general secretary Md. Abdun Noor was re-elected by getting 3,741 votes. Blue panel candidate for this post, Ruhul Quddus received only 309 votes. 

Members for seven positions have been won from the white panel, Mohiuddin Ahmed (Rudra), Moniruzzaman Rana, Shafiq Raihan Shaon, Md. Safayet Hossain (Sojib), Md. Delwar Hossain, Md. Nazmul Huda and Subhash Chandra Das.

Voting was held on Wednesday and Thursday among commotion and chaos. At the end of the second day of voting on Thursday, after 1:30 am, the convener of the sub-committee, Md. Moniruzzaman announced the results in the South Hall of the association.

Pro-BNP lawyers have been charged with "attacking the police" and "vandalizing the voting booths" during the elections for the Supreme Court Lawyers Association.

On Wednesday (March 15), at least 10 journalists were beaten by the police in the Supreme Court. The police allegedly kicked and lathi-charged them. Complaints have been raised that the mobile phones of some journalists were taken away for recording the video of the incident. However, there is no information about beating journalists in the police report.
