9 people including 7 Bangladeshis died in Saudi Arabia fire

At least 9 people, including seven Bangladeshis, have died in a terrible fire in Saudi Arabia. Two others are under treatment in hospital with serious burns. The fire took place around 4 pm (local time) in Al-Hasa district of Dammam province in the eastern part of the country.

The Bangladesh Embassy in Saudi Arabia has confirmed the incident. According to the embassy authorities, three of the dead expatriate Bangladeshis are from Natore and one is from Rajshahi district. However, the embassy authorities could not reveal their identity. In the meantime, the labor councilor from the Bangladesh Embassy has gone to the accident site to identify the victims.

Embassy authorities also said that a sudden fire broke out in a furniture factory in Al-Mansoora industrial area. Because of the wood, the fire quickly expanded. Several workers were trapped inside the factory. Many died on the spot.

After receiving the information, the provincial fire service reached the spot and started the rescue operation. The injured were rescued and admitted to a local hospital. There is also an Indian citizen among the dead.
