Teen tied to tree, beaten up in Cumilla

A 14-year-old boy was allegedly tied to a tree and beaten up by some locals in Cumilla -- just for Tk 450 that his father owed to a furniture shop owner.

In his complaint to the local police station, the boy's father alleged that he purchased a wooden cot from the shop owned by a man named Nahidul in Burichang upazila a few days ago.

"I have cleared almost all the dues. Only Tk 450 was outstanding. On the Eid, Nahidul’s brothers Nazmul and Jashim abducted my son at gunpoint and tortured him," he said.

Police said that action would be taken, following a probe. "Investigation is on,” said sub-inspector of Burichang police station, Sharif Rahman.
