Dhaka airport drug gang robbed 300 individuals in 15 years

The Dhaka airport region has been plagued by a drug gang that has been systematically robbing foreigners of their possessions for the last 15 years.

At a press event conducted at  Karwan Bazar media center on Sunday, Commander Al Moin, director of RAB's legal and media section, revealed that the gang members had robbed about 300 foreigners during this time.

Saturday, Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) captured four persons, including the gang's boss, at Airport and Kadamtoli.

Amir Hossain, 52, the gang's boss, Liton Mia Milton, 48, Abu Bakar Siddique alias Pervez, 35, and Zakir Hossain, 40, were arrested.

Commander Moin claimed the special unit recovered gold jewelry, a mobile phone, and sedatives from ringleader Amir Hossain.

After the main questioning, the inmates revealed the group has 8-10 members and uses aliases.

Amir admitted to being the narcotics gang's boss when probed. He's been robbing 300 people for 15 years. Moin stated he worked at an airport gate

He's been in jail and is currently on bail.

“They targeted returnees at Dhaka airport and posed as travellers to mislead people,” he claimed.

On September 2, the gang targeted a Kuwaiti expatriate going to Bogura.

A gang member followed him to Azimpur bus Stand. Later, Amir Hossain disguised himself as a traveler and made him his buddy.

When the expatriate went unconscious, Amir stole his stuff and left the bus, Rab added.

On 9/6, Uttara West Police received a complaint.
