Barishal gets highest votes in first 4 hrs, Rangpur gets least

Voting for the 12th National Assembly elections is underway. 18.50 percent voting took place from 8 am to 12 noon across the country. With that, peaceful voting is taking place so far. In the first four hours, the maximum number of votes was recorded in Barisal and the lowest in Rangpur.

Election Commission Secretary Md. Jahangir Alam said this In a briefing at the EC media center on Sunday. Other officials of the commission were present at that time.

The EC Secretary said that out of 300 constituencies across the country, voting has started in 299 constituencies. Three of them were disqualified. One of them is from Narsingdi and the other two are from Narayanganj.

The EC secretary also said that in four hours, the highest number of votes was cast in Barisal division at 22 percent and the lowest was 13 percent in Rangpur division. Besides, 17 percent votes were cast in Dhaka division, 20 percent in Chittagong, 18 percent in Sylhet, 21 percent in Khulna, 17 percent in Rajshahi and 20 percent in Mymensingh division.

Regarding the killing of boat supporter in Munshiganj, the EC secretary said, "The incident happened in Munshiganj outside the polling station. The Superintendent of Police there informed me that the person who was killed was an accused in a murder case. He was out for a long time. He was hacked to death in the area."

When asked about the crash of the election app before the start of the election, the EC secretary said that the work of making the election app is going on for a period of eight years. Although the total expenditure is Tk 21 crore, Tk eight crore has been spent so far in the first year. However, our apps have been made slow from Germany, UK and Netherlands. As a result, it is difficult to get information.
