The High Court has issued a directive to Salam Murshedi, Member of Parliament for the Khulna-4 Constituency and Vice President of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BAFFE), to vacate an abandoned property located in Gulshan. The court has instructed Murshedi to explain the status of the property to the government within the next three months.

The verdict was delivered by a bench comprising Justice Md. Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Kazi Ibadat Hossain on Tuesday, marking a significant development in the ongoing legal battle over the property.

During the hearing of a writ petition last Thursday, the court observed that the house in question is indeed an abandoned government property. The petition, filed by lawyer Syed Sayedul Haque Sumon on October 30, 2022, alleged that House No. 29 on Road No. 104 in Gulshan-2, occupied by Salam Murshedi, falls under the category of abandoned property.

Responding to the petition, the High Court issued a ruling on November 1 of the same year, questioning the inaction of the defendants in addressing Murshedi‍‍`s claim over government property. Subsequently, documents pertaining to the property were submitted to the court on November 13, 2022. A report was presented to the court on January 30 of the following year, stating that the house was not listed as abandoned property.

However, a report submitted by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to the court in February of the current year alleged that Salam Murshedi had fraudulently taken possession of the property.
