Former MP’s son detained for flying drone in restricted area, OC denies

Hossain Mohammad Mayaz, aged 28 and son of former Member of Parliament HM Golam Raza, was apprehended by police for operating a drone in a restricted zone along Manik Mia Avenue. The incident occurred on April 15, during the Pahela Boishakh celebrations, where Mayaz was capturing images and videos of Alpana artwork using his personal drone, Mavic Air-3.

Mayaz admitted to the unauthorized drone flight, acknowledging it as an unintentional error. He expressed remorse for his actions, recognizing the restricted nature of the area due to the presence of the Bangladesh National Parliament complex and the Prime Minister‍‍`s official residence, citing security concerns. Mayaz assured that he would refrain from similar activities in the future, vowing to abide by the law.

However, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sher Bangla Nagar Police Station, Ahad Ali, refuted the occurrence of the incident. He stated to The Report.Live, "No such incident has taken place. We approached him upon observing the drone in the area, after which I departed."
