Based on the approval of the Election Commission in the light of the report of the Election Investigation Committee in the 12th National Parliamentary Elections, the Election Commission has ordered a case against 61 candidates and supporters for election crimes and violation of election code of conduct.
This was informed by the Election Commission on Sunday night.
One of them is Mustafizur Rahman, candidate of Awami League in Chittagong 16 constituency whose candidature has been canceled by the Election Commission.
Apart from this, cases have been ordered in the name of 61 candidate-supporters including Abdul Hai of Jhenaidah-1 seat, Abul Kalam Azad of Rajshahi-4 seat of Bangladesh Awami League and Morshed Alam in Noakhali-2 seat, independent candidate Ataur Rahman of the same seat; Independent candidate Golam Mahfuz Chowdhury in Joypurhat-2 Constituency, Independent candidate Md. Ali Aslam in Thankurgaon-2 Constituency. Independent candidate Jannatul Ferdous Ara of Netrakona-1 Constituency, Md. Murad Ali in Magura-2 Constituency of Jatiya Party.
