Indian commercial capital Mumbai reported not a single Covid-19 case for the first time since the country ravaged by the pandemic in March 2020, according to Indian media outlets.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) conducted 2,772 tests on Tuesday but no positive cases were reported.
The last time zero Covid case was recorded in the city was on March 16, 2020. Mumbai later at one point was a hotspot for Covid cases, according to the news dailies.
Experts also expressed relief, but also recommended vigilance to counter any possible new variant as outbreak had been anticipated due to a sudden surge in Covid cases in neighbouring China.
