Considering Cyclone Sitrang, the government has ordered the closure of all the educational institutions in Khulna, Barishal and Chittagong divisions until further notice as these under the cyclone-affected areas will be used as shelters.
The tip of Cyclone Sitrang hit the coast of Bangladesh as soon as it touched the coast on Monday evening, heavy gusty winds and rain started.
The cyclone is expected to cross the coast of Barishal and Chittagong by midnight and this morning.
Over 2.19 lakh people from 15 coastal districts of the country were evacuated until 5 pm on Monday.
