Foreign Minister visiting Delhi and Joint General Secretary of the Awami League Dr. Hasan Mahmud said that maintaining political stability and peace is essential for development and progress, and that this is the main objective of the visit.

After taking charge as Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Hasan Mahmud, on the first day of his bilateral visit on the invitation of Minister of Foreign Affairs of India, held a meeting with India‍‍`s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval on Wednesday afternoon.

After the discussion in the meeting at Sardar Patel Bhavan, he paid floral tributes at Mahatma Gandhi‍‍`s cremation ground and memorial at Rajghat. The minister also signed the monument inspection book.

Addressing the journalists at Rajghat at this time, he said that unprecedented development has been achieved in Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, India has also made great progress under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. To maintain this development progress, regional political stability, security and peace that prevails must be preserved. We discussed for that purpose.

Foreign Minister Hasan emphasized the importance of the Rohingya issue in this respect, saying that the repatriation of Rohingyas with full rights to their original nation Myanmar, as well as collaboration on the present situation in Myanmar, were discussed.

High Commissioner of Bangladesh assigned to India. Mustafizur Rahman, officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Bangladesh High Commission were present at this time.

Hasan Mahmud will hold a bilateral meeting with Foreign Minister S Jaishankar at Hyderabad House in Delhi this evening. The minister is scheduled to deliver a speech at the Vivekananda Foundation and hold several bilateral meetings on Thursday and Friday of the three-day visit.
