HC stays order that fined Shohoz TK 2 lakh

The High Court (HC) has stayed an order of Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection that fined Shohoz.com, believed to be the largest online ticket destination in the country, Tk2lakh for their mismanagement.

A High Court division bench comprising of Justice Md Khasruzzaman and Justice Md Iqbal Kabir passed the order on Sunday after holding hearing on a writ petition filed by Shohoz.

Meanwhile, the High Court issued a rule asking the authorities concerned to explain as to why it shall not declare the order of fining Shohoz, beyond legal jurisdiction.

Five people including Commerce Secretary and Director General of Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection were made respondents in the rule.

Barrister Tanjib-Ul-Alam moved the plea before the court, while Deputy Attorney General Bipul Baghmar stood for the state.

Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection fined Shohoz.com on July 20 after holding hearing on a complaint filed by Dhaka University (DU) student Mohiuddin Roni for not providing him a ticket against the money taken from his account. Shohoz filed the writ against the order on July 25.
