The anti-terrorist unit of the police has arrested Mohammad Abdul Khalek Talukdar (73), who was sentenced to death for crimes against humanity in 1971.
A press release informed about his arrest from Keraniganj area of Dhaka on Wednesday (March, 22) night.
He had been escaping since the case was filed at the International Criminal Tribunal in 2015.
According to the police statement, the tribunal announced the judgment of the case on March 28, 2019. As seven charges of crimes against humanity and genocide were proved in the verdict, Khalek was sentenced to death along with four other absconders.
Abdul Khalek's house is in Kharchail village in the east of Netrakona.
