Shamim Osman breached election code of conduct: CEC

Lawmaker Shamim Osman has breached the election code of conduct by making announcement to join election campaign of Selina Hayat Ivy ahead of Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) election.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda came up with the remark while exchanging views with presiding and returning officers after he inspected the election preparation in Narayanganj on Wednesday.

“Shamim Osman declared to join election campaign but he did not join. This is a breaching of election code but not a punishable offence,” Nurul Huda said.

Claiming to have no problem in Narayanganj the CEC said, “All preparations have been taken to hold the NCC polls in free and fair manner. The candidates yet made no clash except some allegations.”

Referring to the controversy over Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) Nurul Huda said, “EVM is such a machine which helps to count the votes within 10 minutes after the voting concludes. This is a clean machine.”
