This is the first time that Bangladesh Railway has arranged the Eid journey tickets with 100% online purchase system. Eid journey of the ticket holders started today (April 17). Thousands of people are crowding in Kamalapur Railway Station to go home. However, on the first day of the Eid journey, the schedule disaster caused the passengers to suffer.
Those who got on train after the hassle of online tickets, their joy remains no bound. However, the railways is yet to recover from the train accident in Comilla on Sunday. Almost all the trains on the Dhaka-Chittagong route are leaving two to three hours late.
There are some issues on the first day due to the accident in Comilla, but the railway officials expect a smooth journey for the rest of the days. Every day approximately 50,000 people will leave Dhaka by local and mail trains, including 37 pairs of inter-city trains.
Due to the accident, Sonar Bangla Express from Dhaka to Chittagong has been canceled on the first day of the Eid journey. Railway will run a special train on Wednesday (April 19) for the passengers of the canceled Sonar Bangla Express.
Apart from this, passengers of Sonar Bangla Express are being carried in 5 extra compartments in Mahanagar Provati train today. The railway authorities have also kept the option of refunding the ticket if anyone wants. Railway officials hope that the train in the eastern region will return to the schedule after the accident.
On the occasion of Eid, inter-country Mitali Express train will be closed from April 18-27 and Maitri Express train will be closed from April 20-27. However, inter-country Bandhan Express trains will run as usual.
