Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina honored the memory of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on what would have been his 105th birthday, coinciding with National Children‍‍`s Day.

On Sunday, March 17th, at 7:04 am, Prime Minister Hasina laid a wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu, situated at the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum in Dhanmondi, symbolizing the deep respect and reverence she holds for the nation‍‍`s founding father.

In her dual roles as Prime Minister and leader of the Awami League, Sheikh Hasina also paid homage with other prominent leaders of the party during the solemn ceremony.

As part of the nationwide observances marking the occasion of Bangabandhu‍‍`s birthday, special prayers and religious gatherings, including milad mahfils, are scheduled to take place across mosques, temples, pagodas, and churches throughout the country. Communities from diverse religious backgrounds are coming together to offer prayers and commemorate the legacy of the revered leader.

In the capital city of Dhaka, various religious congregations are planned, including those by the Christian community at Mirpur Baptist Church, the Buddhist community at Sabujbagh Dharmarajik Buddhist Mahavihar and the International Buddhist Vihar in Merul Badda, and the Hindu community at Dhakeshwari National Temple.

Tomorrow, Monday, March 18th, a discussion meeting will be convened by the Dhaka District Awami League in Tejgaon. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also serving as the President of the Awami League, will preside over the gathering.

Born on March 17, 1920, in Tungipara village of then Gopalganj subdivision, now Gopalganj district, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman emerged as the indisputable leader of the Bengali nation and played a pivotal role in the struggle for Bangladesh‍‍`s independence. He was the third child of Sheikh Lutfur Rahman and Saira Khatun, part of a family deeply rooted in noble Muslim traditions.

Tragically, on the night of August 15, 1975, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and several members of his family were brutally assassinated by a group of army officers, leaving an indelible mark on the nation‍‍`s history.
