The death toll from Kadamtali-Juraine gas pipeline explosions have raised to three as a minor female child died in a hospital here today.
Earlier, her parents died instantly after the incident two weeks ago. The victim is Afsana Akther, 5.
“A five-year old fire-burnt female child died at the intensive care unit (ICU) of Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute at around 8am”, confirmed Dr M Toriqul Islam, a resident physician of the hospital.
Almost 25 percent of her body was burnt, Islam said.
A total of five persons including women and children had been critically injured in a fire incident erupted from explosions from a gas pipeline leakage at Kadamtali-Jurain area in the city at 2am on August 13.
The injured were Identified as M Atahar, 35, his wife Mukta Khatun, 30, their daughter Afsana, 5, M Altaf Sikder, 72, father of Mukta Khatun and Mrs Marjina Begum, 50, mother of Mukta Khatun.
Later, the fire injured was brought to Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute at 3am and then Afsana’s parents died at the hospital.
But Afsana’s grandfather and grandmother got released immediately after the primary aid.
