Education Minister Dipu Moni has urged the protesters of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) to sit in dialogue.
The minister was speaking to newsmen after holding a meeting with a delegation of SUST teachers to address the situation at her Dhaka residence on Saturday.
“We want, they (students) withdraw their fasting and sit with us for dialogue. If they want, they can sit while observing the hunger strike programme. Negotiation is the only way to resolve any issue. So, we want to solve the crisis through dialogue. The door to hold discussion with students is always open,” the minister said.
Replying to a query Dipu Moni said, she cannot go Sylhet due to a family matter. But, if necessary, she may send her representative. When the students want, they will go.
She urged the journalists to look into why the students disagreed to sit in dialogue after they had agreed.
