Graft Case Against SK Sinha: HC asks 2 acquitted to surrender

The high court has asked Niranjan and Shahjahan, acquitted in a money laundering case filed over grabbing taka 4 crore of Farmer’s Bank through fradulence and deception, to surrender.

The court also issued a rule asking why the duo would not be penalized canceling their acquittal.

An HC bench of justice M Enayetur Rahim and justice Md. Mostafizur Rahman passed the order on Wednesday (December 22).

Lawyer Md. Khurshid Alam Khan who took part in the hearing on behalf of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) confirmed the matter to the media.

The anti-corruption body filed an appeal with the concerned department of the court on Monday challenging the acquittal.

“Niranjan and Shahjahan opened two accounts with the Farmer’s Bank. They applied for loan which was approved. So, they instigated the crime. However, the judicial court acquitted them at it thought the duo was not beneficiary of the fraudulence. But, the ACC filed application against their acquittal as an acquaintance of the crime,” Khurshid Alam said.
