Fire at New Super Market completely extinguished

The fire on the third floor of the New Super Market in New Market area of the capital has been completely extinguished.

Deputy Director of Fire Service and Civil Defence, Dhaka Division Dinmoni Sharma confirmed the matter to TheReport.live at 10:30 am on Sunday. 

The Deputy Director of Fire Services said, "Although the fire was brought under control yesterday morning, smoke was rising from the burnt shops. However, the fire was completely extinguished around 9 am on Sunday. We have handed over everything to the police. Now there is no sign of fire in the market.”

The fire service received information about fire at the New Super Market in the capital's New Market area around 5:40 am on Saturday. Later, 32 units of fire service and civil defense worked to control the fire. A joint team of Army, Navy and Air Force joined them in the rescue operation. Besides, 12 platoon members of BGB were engaged in security work along with Police-RAB.

The fire was brought under control by 32 units of fire service and civil defense. Brigadier General Director General of Fire Service and Civil Defense Directorate Md. Main Uddin gave this information to the media at around 10:30 on Saturday (15 April).

Despite the fire, the traders brought out the goods from the shops in the part of the market where the fire did not reach. Traders had stockpiled extra items for Eid. They are busy moving the commodities even risking their lives to avoid damage.

Police members helped them in this work. Members of the Air Force, Navy, Fire Service and Police helped removing the commodities from the market. Many people fell ill during this time.
