DU to reopen student dormitories October 5

Decision has been taken to reopen student dormitories of the University of Dhaka on October 5. Students of honours’ final year and masters are allowed to return to the halls.

The decision has been taken during a syndicate meeting of the university with Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman in the chair.

According to the decision, students will be eligible to use university library, science library and seminar libraries of department/institute from September 26. Students can return to dormitories from 8am on October 5. However, hall staff have to keep vaccine certificates with them.

According to the decision taken in the meeting, banner/festoon has to be installed in front of residential halls and academic buildings featuring safety guidelines against Covid-19.

Dormitories will reopen gradually for all students based on inoculation against coronavirus. However, no extra gathering of students or ‘Gonoroom’ will not be allowed this time in a bid to stem the infection of deadly coronavirus. Only regular students will be eligible to stay at halls.

Pro VC (Education) ASM Maksud Kamal said, students must have certificates of vaccine at least a single dose along with university ID card.

All educational institutions were closed on March 17 last year following the spread of coronavirus.

As the infection started decreasing all school and colleges reopened on September 12.
