Dope test must for students-teachers before entry to university: Home Minister

Students and teachers will be brought under dope test during their entry at universities, said home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal. Government has a zero tolerance policy for narcotics, added he.

He said this while talking to press after a meeting on law and order in the country at the secretariat on Tuesday (August 17).

“The decision of dope test has been taken to discourage substance abuse. Dope tests are being conducted when entering government job. All government officials and employees have to show a clean test report every year. If anyone tested positive, legal moves will be taken,” the home minister said.

Mentioning newly appeared drugs in the country he said, “We have discussed how narcotics can be controlled. What are sources, who are abusers, were also discussed. The drugs recovered in the country are produced out of the country. Our young generation is on the brink of destruction due to drug abuse,” Asaduzzaman went sayin.

He said, steps have been taken to stem import of drugs through courier service.

“Postal department controls courier service. It has been given necessary directives. All parcels will be scanned. If any company found guilty, punishable moves will be taken,” he furthered.
