Referring to the demand for BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s treatment abroad, Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen on Sunday said he does not have any information on any country sending prisoners abroad for “better treatment.”
“The best treatment possible is being provided to her here,” Momen told reporters at a media briefing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs when a reporter raised BNP’s demand for Khaleda’s treatment abroad.
The foreign minister posed a counter question to the reporter, asking him whether any country sends its prisoners abroad for treatment.
“I don’t know whether any country sends its prisoners abroad for ‘better’ treatment. If any country does, let us know. I don’t have any information on this,” Momen said.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir recently said her doctors have advised that Khaleda Zia be sent abroad immediately for treatment at an advanced medical establishment.
