US Ambassador to Bangladesh Peter D Haas said promoting democracy is crucial as Bangladesh prepares for parliamentary elections.
"Let me allow to make one thing more vivid that the US does not endorse any political party", he added.
Haas stated this during a lunchtime gathering of the American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AmCham) at The Westin Dhaka.
The US ambassador furthermore added that free and fair elections don't occur under political turmoil.
He urged everyone to obey the rule of law and avoid violence, harassment, and intimidation.
Civil society, diplomats, and AmCham members and members of the civil society attended the meeting.
