Bomb explosion claimed lives of 3 Bangladeshi peacekeepers in Central African Republic

A roadside bomb exploded in the Central African Republic, leaving three Bangladeshi soldiers killed on a UN peacekeeping mission.

The Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate-ISPR said in a press release that they were attacked while patrolling a vehicle on Monday night.

Jasim Uddin (31) of Katanga village of Brahmanbaria's Vijaynagar Upazila, Jahangir Alam (26) of Dakshin Tit Para village in Nilphamari's Dilma Upazila, and Sharif Hossain (26) of Garak Rua village in Sirajganj's Belkuchi Upazila are the deceased.

All three of them were serving as soldiers of the Bangladesh Army. The Commander of the patrol team, Major Ashraful Haque, also got injured in that incident.

Major Ashraf led a force from a makeshift camp in Kui to patrol Kaita on Monday evening. On the way back, an Improvised explosive device blew up, knocking Major Ashraf's vehicle 15 feet away. Four sitting in the vehicle were seriously hurt.

After first aid treatment, they were immediately taken to 144-km-away Minuska Hospital in Boare. Jasim, Jahangir, and Sharif died Tuesday morning while receiving treatment.

ISPR said Major Ashraful Haque is still hospitalized and in stable shape. Bangladeshi peacekeepers in the Central African Republic are safe. Three killed peacekeepers' corpses are set to get returned 'as quickly as possible.'
