7th March speech: Unarmed Bangali nation transformed into armed ones, says Info Minister

Awami League Joint General Secretary and Minister of Information and Broadcasting Hasan Mahmud commented that the unarmed Bangali nation was transformed into an armed nation in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib's speech on March 7, 1971.

He said this in response to a question from journalists after paying tribute to the portrait of Bangabandhu at Dhanmondi number 32 in the capital on Tuesday morning on the occasion of the historic March 7.

The information minister said, "The sad thing is that even after 52 years of independence, anti-independence evil forces thrive. And their main sponsors are BNP and BNP leaders. The pledge of March 7 is to build a united resistance against these anti-independence evil forces and those who want to take the country backward in Pakistani ideology.”

Hasan Mahmud said, "Bangabandhu announced - 'This time, our liberation struggle, this time is the freedom struggle' and he said - 'Be prepared with whatever you have, we have to face the enemy forces.' The nation was transformed into an armed nation.

Referring to 'Bangabandhu's March 7 speech as one of the best speeches in world history', this joint general secretary of Awami League said, "Actually, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman declared the independence of Bangladesh in his March 7 speech. But he declared in such a way that he did not give any opportunity to Pakistanis to label him as a separatist. Bangabandhu who was really a poet of politics, he also said that it has become more evident through his speech.
