33 Rohingyas rescued from Bay of Bengal

Members of Bangladesh Navy have rescued 33 Rohingyas, including children, from the Bay of Bengal near St Martin's Island while they were heading to Malaysia.

 

Captain Sohel Azam commander of Banauja Ali Haider ship said a trawler carrying the Rohingys was rescued 2 nautical miles away from the northwest Bay of Bengal early Thursday. 

 

The Rohingya refugees are from Ukhia and Teknaf camps. They were handed over to St Martin's island coastguards.
