Dengue outbreak: 2 dead, 278 hospitalised in last 24 hours

As many as 278 dengue patients have been admitted to different hospitals in capital Dhaka and elsewhere across the country. Two persons died in the same period.

The number of dengue patients who are undergoing treatment now stands at 1 thousand 193.

The information was disclosed in notice issued by the Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) o Wednesday (August 25).

“Among the hospitalised patients 230 cases were reported in the capital while 48 out of Dhaka city in last 24 hours,” the DGHS notice read.

According to the data, out of 1 thousand 193 admitted patients, 1 thousand 90 are in Dhaka while 103 hail from out of the capital. The total number of dengue infected now reached at 6 thousand 195 in August.

Among 211 admitted patients in last 24 hours, 58 were taken to different government and autonomous hospitals while 152 were admitted to private hospitals and clinics.

Dengue fever reportedly killed some 40 people this year. Health department said, all them died in July and August.
