24 suspected dengue fatalities reported to IEDCR

As many as 24 deaths have been reported to Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) in suspicion to dengue fever.

However, the institute is yet to confirm any death caused by the mosquito-borne disease.

Some 211 more people have been hospitalised in last 24 hours (8 am Thursday to 8 am Friday) with dengue fever and symptom.

Health department disclosed the information on Friday (August 13).

A total of 952 people are undergoing treatment at different public and private hospitals across the country. As many as 210 patients were admitted in Dhaka while another one out of city, health department said.

Some 884 are undergoing treatment at 41 hospitals in the capital while 68 are admitted at divisional city hospitals.

A total of 5 thousand 645 people were infected to the disease from January 1 to August 13 this year. Out of them, 4 thousand 669 recovered.

In terms of infection, the rate in August exceeded that of the July. Some 2 thousand 286 patients were hospitalised with suspected dengue infection. The total number now stands at 2 thousand 987.
