Two people along with a traffic police officer died and two were injured in a road accident on the Dhaka-Mawa highway in Munshiganj`s Srinagar upazila this morning.
According to police and witnesses, a microbus struck a woman waiting for a bus on a pavement near the Padma Bridge North Police Station at around 10:00 a.m.
During the accident, Md Motaleb, a traffic officer, was having tea at a nearby tea stall. He was also hurt when the speeding vehicle hit with him. Two other individuals sustained injuries.
The unidentified woman died on the spot, while Motaleb died after being transported to the nearby upazila health complex.
Kamlesh Bagchi, in-charge of emergency unit at Srinagar Upazila Health Complex, said, "Three injured people were brought to the health complex and one of them died."
Munshiganj Traffic Police TI (Finance and Administration) Bajlul Rahman confirmed the accident and said the vehicle was confiscated but the driver fled.
