One person has been killed in a fire in a multi-story building in Shyamoli, Dhaka. Fire service personnel recovered the body from the 19th floor of the building.
Fire Service Director (Operation and Maintenance) Lt. Col. Mohammad Tajul Islam Chowdhury informed the reporters late at night yesterday.
He said that 18 units of fire service brought the fire under control. So far 23 people including 4 women have been rescued alive from the building.
Earlier yesterday at 11:25 PM, a fire broke out on the seventh floor of the 20th-floor building on Mirpur Road in Shyamoli. The fire service recovered the body of a person from the 19th floor of the building at night.
The building included several diagnostic centers. Notable among these are SBF Dialysis Center, Noorjahan Orthopedic and General Hospital, Dhaka Trauma Center, and Specialized Hospital.
Patients in the hospitals were evacuated during the incident.
