First-ever Bengali New Year celebrations in Dhaka north draw crowds

In a historic event, Dhaka North witnessed its inaugural Bengali New Year celebrations, titled ‍‍`Oli-Golir Halkhata,‍‍` spanning various locations across the district. The festivities kicked off at Justice Shahabuddin Ahmad Park in Gulshan-2 on Sunday morning, attracting residents from Gulshan, Banani, Baridhara, and neighboring areas.

Families clad in vibrant attire flocked to Shahabuddin Ahmad Park to partake in the New Year revelries, marking a colorful and joyous occasion. The streets of Gulshan 2 square were adorned with intricate Alpana designs, heralding the arrival of the auspicious day.

The event, a collaborative effort by Dhaka North City Corporation, Gulshan Society, and Shahabuddin Park Management Authority, featured a myriad of activities including Alpana artwork, art camps, musical performances, and engaging discussions.

Attendees were treated to performances by renowned artists such as Palakar Islam Uddin, Bappa Mazumdar, and Samgeet O Ganpoka. Notable figures including Dhaka North City Mayor Atiqul Islam, esteemed artist Hashem Khan, and acclaimed personalities like Sara Zaker, Nasheed Kamal, and Jaya Ahsan are expected to grace the occasion, along with poet Iraj Ahmed and other distinguished citizens.

The atmosphere was filled with anticipation and excitement as the community came together to celebrate the dawn of the Bengali New Year, fostering a sense of unity and cultural pride among attendees.
