Cristiano Ronaldo owns the Pestana CR7 Hotels, a chain of hotels in addition to scoring goals.

With the devastating Morocco earthquake claiming many lives and leaving people homeless, multiple media outlets reported Ronaldo’s hotels offered refuge to the victims in Morocco.

However, the hotel denied the news of granting respite to affected people.

There are no official updates of the hotel opening its door for refugees to seek shelter.

According to French factchecker Liberation, the information remains untrue, and the hotel carried on its regular booking system for guests. Likewise, Ronaldo never confirmed these reports, and one can put those rumors away.

News came out from various media house outlets stating Cristiano Ronaldo’s hotels offered shelter for refugees.

Yet, those claims are false. Several media outlets misunderstood the term ‘refuge’ and praised Ronaldo for the noble cause.

But one Spanish tourist claimed they blew the situation out of proportion. The tourist claimed she slept on the streets before getting a room at one hotel in Marrakech that was the Portuguese soccer player’s chain of hotels.

On Friday (September 8) a huge 6.8-magnitude earthquake struck the mountainous High Atlas region in Morocco, around 45 miles from the city of Marrakech.

According to Reuters, the death toll climbed to 2,122, with 2,421 reported injuries as numerous people lost their homes under the rubble.
