‍‍`Overpaying‍‍` Elon Musk on deadline to close Twitter deal

Elon Musk looks to be on track to fulfill a deadline on Friday to finalize his on-again, off-again purchase of Twitter, avoiding a court battle over the $44 billion deal, which he admits is excessively priced.

Musk signaled the deal was on track Wednesday by changing his Twitter profile to "Chief Twit" and posting a video of himself walking into the company‍‍`s California headquarters carrying a sink, reports AFP.

"Let that sink in!" he quipped.

"I think on Friday, we‍‍`ll get an announcement that says that Elon Musk has purchased Twitter," University of California, Berkeley, law professor Adam Badawi told AFP.

After his unexpected offer was approved, Musk attempted to back out of the Twitter arrangement. In July, he declared the cancellation of the agreement, claiming that Twitter had misled him about the amount of fake "bot" accounts. Twitter has denied the claims.
